  The Caesalpinia ferrea species grows in Brazil and is widely used in the North and Northeast in the treatment of chronic cough, asthma and gastroduodenal ulcer. Traditionally it has been suggested in the symptomatic treatment of skin and mucosal lesions, as well as in the treatment of glycosuria.
