    P-glycoprotein (MDR1/ABCB1) is a membrane transport protein that is expressed in intestine, liver, kidney, placenta, and blood-brain barrier.  P-glycoprotein excludes various clinically important drugs, such as verapamil, digoxin, tacrolimus, and vinblastine, from the cells.  Therefore, human P-glycoprotein plays important roles in drug..
