The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has appointed Dr Catherine Duggan as the chief executive officer for the organisation.

Dr Duggan, an Irish citizen and registered pharmacist, was previously the director of professional development at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. Catherine has committed to build on the work of FIP leaders, past and present, and has articulated a vision to advance pharmacy worldwide working through established partnerships with the World Health Organization and forging new partnerships at a global level to benefit the profession and the public.

The FIP Chief Executive Officer is charged with ensuring that the organisation, as the global voice of pharmaceutical practice, sciences and education, is an active and influential participant, on behalf of all its members, in global healthcare decisions and actions. In particular, the CEO will lead the federation through its work in developing and implementing a modern and contemporary strategy and vision fit for the future. Dr Duggan has an impeccable and highly successful track record in effective and influential delivery for professional leadership bodies and has direct experience of practice through clinical, community, academic and service provision professional history. 

Dr Duggan’s significant experience and past achievements, which are many, makes her a worthy and tough leader in this amazing position. Dr Duggan is well known and widely respected for her integrity, loyalty and energy, reflecting the values of our federation and clearly capable of fulfilling the objective of making FIP even stronger and effective at global levels.
